What is Amazon EC2 Instance?
EC2 can be considered as one of the most important and widely used AWS service. An EC2 instance in AWS is same as a virtual server in VMWare terminology. It stands for Elastic Compute Cloud. By using EC2 service an AWS subscriber can request and provision a compute server in AWS cloud.
EC2 instance is an offering from AWS where the subscriber/user can rent the virtual server on hourly basis and use it to deploy their own applications.
The instance will be charged per hour with different rates based on the kind of the instance type selected. AWS provides multiple instance types for the respective business needs of the user.
Thus, you can rent an instance based on your own CPU and memory and storage requirements and use it as long as you want. You can also terminate the instance when it’s no more required for Cost Optimization.
